The St. Joseph's University, New York (L.I.) men's basketball team dropped a 66-63 season-opening non-conference decision to the Pratt Institute on Tuesday night.

- Junior Spencer Malloy recorded his first double-double of the season, leading the Golden Eagles with 22 points (10-for-19 FG) and 12 rebounds
- Sophomore Justin Turner shot two of three from three-point range and scored 10 points in his collegiate debut
- Junior Patrick O'Gorman and Sophomore Cameron Hatcher led the Cannoneers with 14 points each
- Hatcher led Pratt with nine rebounds while O'Gorman recorded eight assists
How it happened
- SJLI trailed for a majority of the first half, but fought back to even the score, 25-25, on Turner's three-point basket with 6:59 remaining in the first half
- Graduate Matthew Hirdt's three-pointer gave St. Joseph's the lead (28-27) at the 5:48 mark for the first time since the first three minutes of the game. The went on to take a three-point advantage (36-33) into halftime
- Matthew Hirdt tied the game at 44 with a three-point shot at the 13:26 mark in the second half, but Ace Bibbs responded with a three-pointer less than a minute later to give the Cannoneers back the lead once and for all
- SJLI trailed by as many as nine with less than four minutes remaining, came within two on a three-point play by Malloy with 20 seconds remaining, but proceeded to fall short of a comeback

- The Cannoneers shot 50% (9-for-18) from three-point territory in the first half and finished the game shooting 46.4% from beyond the arc overall
- The Golden Eagles posted a 38.8% shooting percentage overall, and shot 21.7% from three point range
